Very short album, only 7 tracks lasting 24 minutes in total, that said it's a fine collection of songs. Rating 4.00. | Greasy (2013) DAVE HAMMER'S POWER SUPPLY'S third studio effort, simply and appropriately titled GREASY, is an all out blues throw down. Recorded to 2-inch tape and released on thick black vinyl, this album carries the weight of past rocknroll greats that have shaped the direction of the band's songs. Gritty, wild, and subtly refined, these aren't your dad's blues rock jams, but he'll certainly enjoy them. Despite the music boasting a tough outer shell, one may find a surprising amount of romance layered into Hammer's lyrics... images of hopping trains, leaving one's pain behind, simple declarations of love for one's family, and just playing the guitar and singing. "Blues is one of the oldest forms of American music, and we love working in that tradition. We especially love to bend, twist, and break it" says Matthew DeRubertis, bassist. "These songs were a huge joy to bring into existence." DHPS invites you to dust off that old turntable (or listen to it in some digital form, if that's your fancy) and share that joy. Web Page |
