My 2nd Taft record, was impressed with Left For Dead (2011) which includes a great version of Led Zep's - When the Levee Breaks. Therefor was looking forward to his new album, after my first play I was slightly disappointed with some songs.
Dudley's guitar playing is beyond question, vocals are his usual deep throat rough style it's just some songs, feel like filler tracks, eg Feeling Good Now - mediocre song but has a great guitar and power brass finish, the same with Wishing Well great guitar work.
Not all bad news out of the 11 tracks my personal favorites include Meet Me In The Morning, God Forbid, Deep Deep Blue, Bandit Queen & Shanks Akimbo.
Admittedly with more plays some tracks will grow on me as the musicianship is excellent throughout.
With that said I feel an optimistic rating of 3.75.
