Gonna Be Trouble Here (2006) Eric left home at 18 to play guitar and bass behind his musical model, Junior Kimbrough. When Junior passed away, Eric worked with the Burnside brothers and, later, Jimbo Mathus' band. This is his solo debut, deeply rooted in the blues tradition of the North Mississippi Hill Country. He's of white skin, and he doesn't possess that hypnotic energy of Kimbrough. But he's doing a fine job. Solo and small combo recordings. Pure blues from Oxford, Mississippi. ERIC DEATON voc/gtr/bass, MAX WILLIAMS lap steel, DAREN DORTIN drums, etc. Simple recipe, guitar, bass & drums, fits my love of raw electric blues, 9 great tracks. A high rating - 4.50 out of 5.00. |
