Rock Another Day (2014) From the first few bars & vocals of the opening track - The Fall Of Babylon I was intrigued, great start but was expecting much lesser songs to fill the album. How wrong could I be? Superb multi genre piece of music, most of the 11 tracks are exceptional, tails off just slightly at the end, first play review though! Overall really enjoyed Rock Another Day, A Ghost of a Chance is my fav. Rating 4.25. http://www.stonecoyotes.com/ |
This band just keeps getting better and better with each new release. The disk [at least the download version] opens with "The Fall of Babylon," a hard-driving rocker with a sense of urgency that is sure to grab the listener's attention. "Mary, Where Were You?" is a slower rock gem with country undertones. Without missing a beat, "Peace in the Valley" next rocks the senses: "Here comes trouble, Climbing in the window," indeed. And then, just as the mood seems to have established a trend--hard rock with intelligent lyrics--the Coyotes hit us with a new sound; "A Ghost of a Chance" features a glistening, mercurial wah-wah guitar. "Let the Wild Horse Run" yanks us back onto the harder rock path, but with enough funk to fascinate the mind. "The Hard Hills" is one of those country ballads that has endeared this band to us from the beginning. The driving guitar of the title track sounds like something from an old AC/DC album, but Barbara's vocal reminds us of who is in charge. A band can always prove its mettle by how well it can handle a straight blues number, and "Pretty Baby Jane" certainly dispels any doubts about this band's talents. "Don't Come Cryin' to Me" once again pulls us back onto the hard driving rock path, with no complaints. The most poignant number of the set is "It Changed Me," a smooth country-flavored lament. Closing the collection is a nifty remake of "A Rude Awakening." The band will occasionally revisit titles, always making for a tasty treat for loyal listeners. This disk is an amazing amalgam of pieces working together to form another master work. (Amazon Review)
