Open Road (2008) The debut record of an 18 year old British blues rock master, yes this kid has mastered the craft, two years honing his skill prior to the release of Open Road playing live all over the UK & USA in support of Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Taj Mahal, Walter Trout and John Mayall & His Bluesbreakers all great Blues artists. Vocals & playing are superb, songs are excellent, just a brilliant album. Slight downside, a song that I never liked - Black Betty, at least it's short. 2.12. minutes (hated the Ram Jam version). My rating 4.50 as 10 of 11 tracks hits the mark. |
Songs From The Road (2013) Another live album, reviewed a couple lately. Live recordings for me must give the listener an extra edge to the songs or they just fall flat and disappoint. So to Oli's - Songs From The Road, it certainly doesn't disappoint, well chosen songs from his catalogue that suit a live set, good sound engineering and well mixed, has no annoying crowd "Whoops" or "Yeahs" midway through any song only appreciative applause for a fine performance, also no stupid drum solos!!! Rating 4.00. |
