Started all because I was going through my vinyl collection (don't own a record player) and remembered the smooth jazz blues soul sound, downloaded Diamond Life, still really good after 34 years, worth a play when feeling melancholy or just relaxing.
While looking for something new I went back in time to the late 60's to Jeff Beck's Truth & Beck-Ola, great albums, then to the early 80's for Little Steven and Sade. OK Sade wasn't new to me!

Been listening to MM since the 1990's, thought I'd check out his latest release Heaven Upside Down, then added Born Villain to my collection, now 11 albums, still missing The High End Of Low (2009).
Still enjoy the music and his cutting lyrics, both albums are very good, more plays needed before rating. Both albums have their moments, let down by some songs that are a throwback to the 1980's Pop Rock. Good if you like that genre, just not hard rockin' & raw for me, still enjoyable though!
Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones (2018) Impressive debut album rated 4.25. Only had my initial play to make a judgement, now determined to make time for more plays. 26/02/18 - Now had more plays, but my first instincts were right, has some brilliant songs but still a slight disappointed, has my usual gripe of bad production by using unnecessary backing vocals (the ooos and aghs nonsense), giving good songs a inferior pop sound. |
