An early release from GP & TN has 12 fabulous songs, with a mix of rock, blues, country and folk, love it, a must for real music lovers.
Played this back to back + 1, so it must be good, actually great, a must listen!
My rating 4.50.

Lace And Whiskey (1977) Limited exposure to Alice C's music, mostly just Greatest Hits and Best Of albums, so it's all new to me. After my initial play it reminded me why I never really "got into" some American rock, good tracks then some crass fillers that spoils the whole album, Van Halen, Styx, The Eagles, Kiss come to mind. I think this Alice Cooper record falls into that category, only liked Road Rats, all the other tracks were hard work for me, ah well back to the Best Of & Greatest hits. Rating 1.50. This Ain't No Rock N Roll (1995) Adding ten bonus tracks to the original release, 1995's This Ain't No Rock N' Roll is an impressive, extensive collection of the later work of Mississippi Fred McDowell. Though he uses a backup band consisting of second guitar, bass, and drums, the majority of the tracks simply feature McDowell unaccompanied, showing off his masterful bottleneck guitar skills. The material here documents a rather transitional period for the artist, as he was using electric instruments and expanding his repertoire to include some traditional songs which he was rediscovering. To be sure, a good deal of the material is of traditional origin, with "Levee Camp Blues," "When the Saints Go Marching In," and "Dankin's Farm." Covering over 75 minutes and 18 tracks, this is a pretty complete picture of where McDowell was in the late 60's. (Matt Fink review) Classic blues sound from a 1960's artist, just brilliant. 4.50 rating. Stop The Game (2007) Rocking start, I Got To Know is blues rock at it's best, great guitar playing. The album has an overall upbeat feel, still with a blues foundation, excellent tunes & playing. Did enjoy this record a lot and gave it a 4.25 rating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deborah_Coleman http://www.blindpigrecords.com/index.cfm?section=artists&artistid=19 |
