Another free download, 8 tack 14 minute EP.
Has a deep Lou Reed, Velvet Underground updated sound.
It's not bad, tracks a bit short, music and songs good, my rating will be 2.50!

How's That Sound (2012) No Amazon Reviews. The answer to the album title is "Sounds Good"! Another free download, only 7 tracks spanning 26 minutes. Good rock songs, excellent playing and strong vocals, hope these guys make it and release a full album soon. 4.00 rating for this enjoyable mini album! Have a listen, click below. http://www.thebluestones.ca/ Temperance Movement (2013) If anyone asked me to name the best record I heard in 2013, I would have to tell them I couldn't, but a debut album? Has to be - Temperance Movement!! This 12 track, hard Rockin'/ Blues release has an empathy with the sounds of Black Crowes & Wolfmother, that can't be bad. Brilliant vocals from Phil Campbell, this is a must for any Rock fan. My rating 4.75. http://www.thetemperancemovement.com/ https://www.facebook.com/TheTemperanceMovement The Element Of Freedom (2009) Once again a journey out of my comfort & knowledge zone! Have dabbled with R&B with the late great Aaliyah! Brandy, Monica, En Vogue and maybe a few others that I can't remember have also been bought. Anyhoo back to Ms Keys, I think her vocals are like a lot of modern day female artists, nasal tone singing, then getting louder but not vocally stronger (aka any XFactor wanabe)! Didn't enjoy this album, only listened to it twice and probably never again, only Aaliyah gets any plays nowadays. Not for me so only a 1.00 rating. Full Moon Fever (1989) Always been a TP fan since first hearing American Girl from the 1976 self titled album Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Full Moon Fever was produced by Jeff Lynne, who I was never a fan of, he also co-wrote some songs, putting that aside TP shines through to make this an enjoyable listen, a decent 3.75 rating. Raining The Blues (1960) Memphis Slim (aka John Len Chatman) died nearly twenty years ago at the age of 72. He was truly one of the greats of blues piano and recorded nearly twenty albums during his nearly fifty year career. "Raining the Blues" is a consolidation of two of his best albums: "Just Blues," and "No Strain," both recorded in 1960. There is a purity and simplicity to the music, mostly just Slim on the piano, but occasionally supplemented by "Harpie" Brown's lively harmonica, Lafayette Thomas on guitar, and Wendell Marshall on bass. Much of the music here verges on pure jazz (if it isn't completely jazz). Listen to the completely instrumental trio of guitar, bass and piano on the tune "No Strain" for a wonderful example. When Slim sings his fine voice is perfect accompaniment for his fine piano. This is a big album (23 songs in all) and if you don't know Slim this one is an excellent introduction. It is truly a blues album for a grey and rainy day. Raining the Blues. By Michael Z. Jody - Published on Amazon.com Must agree with MJZ review, simply excellent Blues record - will give it a rating of 4.25 out of 5.00. |
