After being saturated with new recordings of great blues music, it's time for a break.
The Blues Holiday begins now! No plays of blues for one week & will come back refreshed. Will report all of my musical plays during The Blues Holiday (TBH). No reviews or ratings, my back catalogue favourites randomly re-discovered! Started tonight with my first play of non blues, going to call them TBH 1 to TBH ? (The Blues Holiday). TBH 1 - Don't know why I chose this one to be first, retro album by ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead - Madonna. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger (1991)
Studebaker John - Old School Rockin' (2012) My 2nd Studebaker John album after Rockin' The Blues from 1985 (rated 4.00) Old School Rockin' is just as good twenty seven years later, maybe slightly better. Gonna give a 4.25 rating for the excellent raw guitar & harp! "My new CD, Old School Rockin’, is rockin’ blues that helps people to forget their troubles. I’ve tried to incorporate the raw blues sound into songs that strive to be more contemporary and without musical boundaries. It’s what that sound turned into in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, when the raw blues heavily influenced many contemporary artists, and changed the course of popular music. Old School Rockin’ is for all the people, from the rocking blues crowd to the purists, and from the young folks just getting into it to those who’ve been listening all along.” ~Studebaker John. http://www.studebakerjohn.com/
Not reviews, just first play thoughts, some are good, some are Wow, but none are bad! The blues is all "mood dependant", more plays required to fully appreciate all.
